About the Journal

The Journal “Studia Pigoniana” was established in 2017 by Prof. Grzegorz Przebinda, Ph.D. – the then Rector of the Stanisław Pigoń Krosno State College. The first issue of the Journal was published in 2018.

The title of the Journal refers to the College’s Patron – Prof. Stanisław Pigoń (1885-1968) – a native of the Krosno region, an outstanding philologist, literary historian and editor of literary works associated with the Stefan Batory University in Vilnius (1921-1930) and the Jagiellonian University (1931-1960).

The Editorial Board of the Journal, bringing together a group of academics from Carpathian State College in Krosno, maintains ongoing cooperation with scholars from the Jagiellonian University, the KEN Pedagogical University in Kraków, the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków, the University of Łódź, the University of Gdańsk, the University of Wrocław, and other academic centres in Poland and abroad, acquiring a large number of authors from there.

The Journal publishes scientific papers by humanists who are full-time employed at Carpathian State College in Krosno, but at least half of the papers published are authored by outstanding scholars from the most important academic institutions in Poland, as well as from foreign institutions. The Journal “Studia Pigoniana” specialises in the publication of scientific papers in the broadly defined humanities, with a particular emphasis on literary studies and the study of culture and religion. From the very beginning, the scientific profile of the Journal has been trying to skilfully combine the publication of articles on Polish and European humanities with the presentation of valuable regional studies.

The Journal’s editors comply with and apply high standards and principles of publication ethics to counter undesirable publication practices. The guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) are a reference in this respect.

The Journal’s editorial board also attaches great importance to reliable reviewing of scientific papers. Scientific papers are submitted for review by specialists in a given scientific discipline, holding at least a post-doctoral degree and coming from various academic centres.

Each article published in the Journal includes the author’s affiliation, a short note about the author, a digital object identifier (DOI), and an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID). The Editorial Committee of the Journal “Studia Pigoniana” consists of:
